If you want to learn Dutch and know all the free tools available, I’m sharing here information and resources that took me months and years of searching.

  6. Find an online language exchange partner with these apps:
    • Tandem App (for free language exchange)
    • HelloTalk App (for free language exchange)
    • App for hiring hourly teachers/tutors (Italki, Preply)
  7. Free in-person Dutch courses available:
    • at the nearest library (depending on the municipality where you live, it may or may not be free)
    • in the taalcafé (free meetings organized by libraries)
  8. Dutch television: National channels NPO1, NPO2, and NPO3 have the option to display subtitles (via Teletekst page 888).
  9. Dare to speak Dutch everywhere (shops, supermarkets, volunteer organizations)
  10. If you apply to a Dutch university for a postgraduate degree, Dutch language courses are also included.
